Stereo Track with one input?

I was just wondering what you guys think the best way to do this would be. I am using Line 6 Gearbox plug-in for my guitar sounds. I generally keep the signal mono with a mono version of the plug, but every once in a while I like to use their stereo effects in their stereo version of the plugin and I would like to get a stereo output with just a single input going into the plug-in from the guitar. What do you think the best way to do this would be to get the least amount of latency. Thanks.

I haven't used it, but does it have a mono/stereo version? That would allow you to use a mono audio track, but inserting the plug-in would make the track's output stereo (2 meters, 2 pans, etc.). If not, you could either use an aux track and bus its output to a stereo audio track (probably a bit clunky since it would double the drive space and other resources required), or you could put something like a d-verb (mono/stereo) with it smix control set to 0% on the first insert. That would cause the inserts below it to become multichannel. Hope that helps.

Thank you. Yes, it does have a mono/stereo version. I didn't know that this meant it would allow a mono input and a stereo output on a track. Correct me if I am wrong, I assume you would start with a mono track and put the mono/stereo plug on the track and it will switch the output to stereo.

That's correct. It's a similar idea to using a mono aux track with a mono/stereo reverb. Then you can use a single bus to feed it but the reverb sound has a stereo image.
